I sincerely hope so! I'm part-way through converting my 760 and then intend to convert my other beast as well with the idea to save money long-term. Petrol (BP Ultimate) is nidging £6.50 ish/gallon round my neck of the woods (£1.409/L or £1.41 if you round it up to the next penny) so need to do something.

The good thing is you can legally decat as part of the conversion which helps improve the economy because it's so clean burning anyway. If that means an old car is as clean as a new one (both of mine very nearly are despite one not having a cat ever and neither were intended to be as clean as a new car) then i can't see why the govt doesn't promote it - as you rightly point out, there is no fresh carbon footprint from manufacturing and even Volvo state one of their EVs takes 50k miles to break even on the carbon footprint!

On older cars, the carbon footprint has evaporated over time so are 50k miles ahead of the game before we start playing!
