I have just noted that after 24000 miles my front disks are nice and shiny but the rear ones are a bit pitted and rough looking. I wonder if this has anything to do with the noise.

When I had the car in to the garage after only 1000+ miles the technician/mechanic said it was a common thing for the rear brakes to make some noise & he didn't think it was anything to do with the front.

But it seems like the noise is getting louder every time I reverse & I personally do think it is coming from the front end, because the noise only seems when there is a slight turn on the steering wheel & also because it sounds like it's coming from there when stood next to the car while it's reversing (with my wife driving).

My car will be going in to the garage again in just over a week, so I'll let you know if they find anything this time.

Thanks again for all the replies.

maybe my soundproofing is superb but I certainly haven't noticed anything on mine.

Gary, if your car has the issue you will certainly hear it as it is very loud and distinct. Almost like someone playing a note on a double base in the back of the car. It generally happens as you start reversing but if moving any distance it goes away.

Sorry for not getting back on here sooner to let you know what the dealer had to say.

I took the car in with 2 noises, the main one being the brakes while reversing, which the dealers say they could still not see anything so all they did was clean the brakes . They did say however that cleaning the brakes may not resolve the issue & to be honest it did not help at all, as the noise was there as soon as I reversed the car back on to my driveway, so it seems I just have to grin & bare it.

I mentioned I had a second noise, which had also been driving me crazy, which we ended up finding out was a faulty wing mirror motor, which we only discovered after it completely failed & I had to turn off the auto fold feature, but that is now fixed.

So can I thank all who tried to help & offered their advice, it is all appreciated.
