SMS Service unavailable msg

Hi everyone,
Just changed from XC60 to a 69 plate XC40 D4 Inscription Pro.
Generally the car is as good as I expected, although I assumed Adaptive Cruise would come as standard on this model, apparently not.
I've looked and searched but it appears only to have the standard cruise control. Disappointed with that, especially considering my 63 plate XC60 had it as standard. In hindsight I should have specifically looked for it before I bought the car.

Anyway... I have a 'SMS Service unavailable' message on the centre screen and I assume there are settings somewhere to activate it, I have an Iphone12 and cant see any specific setting on there to change. The phone is tethered and I have the globe icon on the centre display.

I'd like the car to read any incoming SMS messages and output the audio.

Can anyone point me in the right direction?

Have you looked in Settings > Communication > Bluetooth > select previously paired phone and check√ the appropriate boxes.

Well it looks like its partially sorted. I now see that ths SMS error message has gone and I can see the settings for SMS. I suspect its car settings somewhere now. When I get an SMS message I hear the phone ping in my pocket but there's nothing happening with the car, no display, no audio, nothing at all.
Any Suggestions ?

Go to Settings > Communication > Text Messages > and select Notifications in Centre Display and Notifications in Driver Display. You can also select a message tone. Incoming message should then be displayed in the Driver Display, use the right steering wheel buttons to see the message or use voice control to read out the message.
