It would be very much appreciated by the neutral members of this forum if this thread didn’t degenerate into a "X is better than Y” slagging match. (Before it starts and not because someone has already posted.

There are many different maps out there for different situations and requirements. Let’s keep it informative, why you liked it and who you have had good experiences with so we can all gain knowledge and enjoy from the information and discussions.

Thank you.

Custom map.
Modified 16T.
1.4 bar boost
Green injectors.
Performance air filter.
3"DP and race cat.
305mm brakes.
Lowering springs, shocks, and decent tyres.

All make a very quick Volvo much quicker!

Pulling way over 300 bhp crank but less than 350 (as if that's of any relavence) Depending on who's dyno, with who's fan, in what weather, on what day with what operator.

Talking its rica all the way

as ive only had a rica 304 fitted i can only compaire mine from a std set up and have to say its crazy compaired to the std ecu, plus runing decated ,homemade intercooler/oilcooler,and a std turbo for quicker spool up which holds nicely at 1.2bar,sat in a bug makes it mental lol so has to be rica all the way for me ,evern thow its a bit overpowerd for the car but rwd makes it more fun then a fwd lol

Forgive me If I have expanded this discussion too much from the initial poll, however I am very keen to see the results of this one as I am about to upgrade my ECU very shortly.

Please correct me if I am wrong but I think the RICA is a new chip to the board, whereas the others appear to be remaps or PPC's ? is this correct ?.

If you fit a RICA chip can you remove this or re-map this later on ?

I have a 98R AWD Manual, with 164K on it so interested to see how the decision process for 2WD would rate against the AWD in terms of choice.

Also how do you decide on which map / Chip based on where the power band adjustments are and what you want to achieve etc

I think you have to remove the ECU itself and can't use the OBD11 port for a re-map on a 98 ?

Would appreciate anyones initial thoughts on these points

probably best to post this in a new thread, as not to lead this thread off-topic and potentially risk upsetting t5-bones.

if you put up a new thread then i will do my best to answer your questions.

Whoa there! You are not going to upset me. I have learned much about this subject and want to know more as I wish to get a remap at sometime too. Whats wrong with informative discussion? It was the slagging of products or companies that I was trying to avoid. Please, lets hear what you have to say.

I think that he's just playing it safe, to avoid any possible problems (the likes of which have plagued this and other fora for a while now).

You know, here's my personal take on it. Find someone (or a firm) you trust. Buy your ECU remap from them. Job done. They're all pretty good anyway!
