Default Disconnected front speaker, now it doesn't work!

Hi all

New here and new to Volvo ownership, I have a 52 plate V40 estate lux. I disconnected the drivers door speaker today and when I reconnected it neither of the front speakers work. The tweeters in the dash still work but neither of the door speakers do.

Any suggestions would be much appreciated.

It may sound a silly question, but are the rear speakers working?

Oh ok. It may be a bit different on the V40. In case you have the amplifier and subwoofer in the boot, then it is possible that you blew the fuse for the amp. Check the amp fuse in the engine bay fusebox and see if it is blown or not

Maybe it's a break in the wire going to that speaker?

Also check your balance setting on the head unit. Might be set incorrectly.

Some car audio units can detect when speakers are not connected & shut down the part of the amplifier that contols that audio channel !

If you have the code.... try unplugging the units power plug & plugging it back in to reset it ?

It could also be a faulty amplifier, in case you do have one. Another member had this problem a few weeks ago and it was the amplifier that was at fault. Where about London are you? I have a spare stereo, amplifier and speakers that we can try on your car to find the problem
