Prices for the S80 V8
I've been looking at buying an S80 V8. looks like the prices are dropping like a brick as expected. what sort of money should I be paying for a used one? I found a 2007 on autotrader for £23K with only 7500 miles on the clock. Is it worth waiting a bit longer? seems like a great car for the money.

Personally I wouldn't touch it at that price and age unless you're willing to lose an awful lot of that £23k, the V8 is going to just keep dropping in value IMO unless the price of fuel suddenly drops by half.
It'll make a stunning bargain in a year or two especially if it takes well to being LPG'd. Cheers, John |

I have just checked Autotrader and today's best price is an '07 car, in black with 10,000 miles.
£16995. Regards, Don.

Spring next year we maybe looking nearer to £12,500 if a hard deal is driven home.
A lot of late model car for that....mind you an S Type might be a good alternative, albeit a bit older. But, the S80 V8 may have some warranty left which could also be extended to 5 years for peace of mind. Regards, Don.

Exactly what I'm thinking Don, and the more I read about the V8 the more I think it's the bargain of the range (used, that is ).
Some reviews for those who don't know about the V8: http://www.autoexpress.co.uk/carrevi...volvo_s80.html Even Autocar seem to like it! http://www.autocar.co.uk/CarReviews/...AWD-SE/219585/ Errm, Evo don't though, no shock there, no oversteer on demand y'see http://www.evo.co.uk/carreviews/evoc...volvo_s80.html I guess the downsides are it's just going to keep on losing money hand over fist and there's a LOT of tech to potentially go wrong in a car which hasn't been around long enough for the foibles to become apparant. I'd certainly want to get one under 3 years old and then extend the warranty. A geartronic, Four-C or AWD system failure could be a very expensive nightmare. *So* much car for the money though. They are alot of car for money, if you can afford to run one
400 quid a year road tax in 2010 Plus the fuel its going to use, altho there no worse than a T6, I've driven a couple of V8's both XC90 and S80 and they really do shift and the noise the V8 makes just puts a smile on your face all day long
