Default Indicator and Fuel Gauge.

I have just got my car back from the garage where it has been MOT'd and serviced.

Before I took it in the right indicator occasionally stopped working and I got a warning message informing me of this and also the turn arrow blinked really fast on the dash, my mate was behind me when this happened and he said my indicators were flashing like mad, I guess, coinciding with the arrow on the dash.

Now on the MOT they replaced a couple of faulty bulbs and I hope this would be the problem cured but on the drive back it started doing it again.

Any of you guys have any ideas on this? Could it be relay, DIM or something else?

Secondly I have just come back from my mums, I parked on her drive which is steep, front of car at the top of the drive and the rear at the bottom so the front was higher up. When making the short journey back from there the fuel gauge had gone from over half full to barely full and also the computer has gone from 260 miles left to empty to 120. I did sit on a level surface in the car waiting to see if the gauge sorted itself out but it didn't seem to.

Again is this a well known problem or is there anything I can do if it doesn't right itself?

Many thanks in advance.

The light problem is a faulty right front indicator bulb or holder . the indicators flash at twice the rate to warn you one isnt working ..

The fuel gauge could be a sender float sticking on the side of the tank , usualy the left one and turning the sender in its hole slightly clockwise can fix .

there are two senders, one in each side of the saddle tank . The left one is under the left rear seat squab . There is an access panel ...

Cheers Clan.

One more question is it the left one as I look at the front of the car or left looking at the rear?

Just the one more question -

how the bloody hell does the back seat detach? Are there screws at the front?

Edit - Sussed it now, just in case anyone else wants to know you just have to pull up quite firmly at the front edge of the seat and it just pops out of the holder things.

Anyway, I couldn't get the sensor to move at all (white circular object with 4 wires coming from the right hand side of it) so I tapped it a bit and it seems to have worked.

Cheers again Clan.

you need to unscrew the ring half a turn then you can move the sender a touch and re tighten ring . it proves that was the problem it seems .

Update -

My indicator failed again on my way home from work tonight so I left them on and checked which one it was, once again you are spot on Clan, it is the front drivers side indicator. I fiddled with the wire that goes into the indicator plug and it started working again.

I need to have the fitting out to sort the problem but, oh god, is it really as awkward as it looks to get that bulb/fitting out?

Are there any tricks on doing this or do I have to start stripping stuff just to make the space?

Crappy design imo.

Again and as always any help appreciated.
