Brookhouse Volvo
Hi,
What's people's opinions of this place? Or is that al illegal discussion topic? I've used them occassionally for many years, and usually trouble free, but I do have the odd encounter where you just wonder if they're on drugs or something... Thanks

Hi Morsing,
I only came into the Volvo fold around a year ago, with a '94 940 estate, but have bought from them around four or five times. Plus they're only 10-12 miles away from me, always a bonus. In all my dealings they've been very helpful, although I'm pretty sure that their website only has part of what they have in stock. It can be a bit frustrating contacting them, and they may answer the phone and just say, hold the line!!! While they finish a previous order I assume. Whilst some people may find this a tad brusque, I prefer that than ignoring a call, and when they come back to you, the guys really know their stuff and are happy to get things in from Sweden if needed. Parts I've ordered have always been correct when collected. Perhaps I'm just a bit odd in these modern days, but I actually like that they are perhaps 'different' to deal with than some other outfits. More recently for non time critical parts, I've been using FRF Swansea as VOC members get good discount, again very good service. Hope that helps, Cheers Steve |

I have never had any issues with them. A good source of parts for the classic Volvos and they seem to know their products. The website feels a bit dated but it works OK.

Always excellent service from Simon and Co at Brookhouse. Bought many parts from them when restoring my Amazon and never had a problem.

I've used them and found them to be pretty good, they are only a small business though and they can get pretty busy at times so they can be under pressure to get orders out on time so maybe that's why they were a bit short. I tend to avoid calling them on Mondays or Fridays as I know they are particularly busy then either dealing with the weekend's messages and emails and Friday is their main day for shipping orders out.

Used them for quite a few bits on the 240, only ever had one issue with being charged twice for postage and the orders coming in the same box which was refunded when questioned.
May be possible to get bits cheaper on ebay and the like, but if we don't support the specialists then our older cars become much harder to keep on the road.

Used them twice for bits for my 240 restoration. Have been very happy with how quickly the stuff arrived, and the prices are pretty good as well. They always send some sweets in with the parts as well.
Website is a bit outdated, but it still works. Occasionally it throws a fit, for example when I tried to order a full replacement 240 sill and it wanted to charge me £4000 for postage! That's been fixed now. |
