Default Headunit query

Hi, i have just purchased an XC90 SE Lux 56 plate and would like to upgrade the headunit for another original Volvo factory unit.

The reason for this is that my headunit does not have the bluetooth phone capability but i have sourced the exact same unit that does.

My query is if i did purchase and change headunits like for like with the exception of additional phone buttons would this be all i needed to do or is there additional wiring or components needed.

If anyone has done this and can confirm it would be appreciated.

Cheers.

I've just purchased a 2008 XC90 R-Design, with fixed phone install (original) but no bluetooth. I'm also investigating options like:

1. Dual SIM card, switch off the iPhone when I get in the car, and the car phone takes over

2. Bluetooth stream audio received to plug into the AUX_IN port, they are tiny and dirt cheap

3. Some fixed bluetooth install

4. But I'd really like the factory Bluetooth that was in the 2012 and later models

I think the factory bluetooth is more than just a head unit swap: it would definitely require programming to the car. And I think the Bluetooth receivr is a separate module. I'll investigate further

you'll struggle with dual sim-cards, i explored that when I picked up my xc90 and its nigh on impossible to find anyone that still does it (apparently it was available a few years ago) what i do is divert my iphone so when it has no signal it goes to the pay-as-you-go simcard in the car then just hit aeroplane mode when you get in the car, annoying but until i get a car-play head unit its the easiest way of doing it.
