Default Where's the OBD11 diagnostic connection?

I have a volvo v40 1998 2lt and presently have a problem with power loss and the DSA fault light aliminating, you may read about this another recent thread of mine. I have purchased a diagnostic kit to wire up to my laptop to see if I can decifer anything. I was looking under the bonet today and could not see the connection for the diagnostic interface.
Can anybody tell me where the diagnostic connection is?

Nice, someone got Vadis?
As they said that exactly where it is. Good luck with reading the codes mate, hope it reveals something. If you need help with codes I've got my book somewhere which I can dig out.
Good luck.

A 98 car wont be OBD2 compliant although it still has the connector. You will need a volvo tool to read codes. The s40 went OBD2 compliant in early to mid 99.

Default Obd11

I checked with the local Volvo dealership prior to ordering an OBD11 diagnostic kit, and they confirmed my 1998 V40 is complient. So if its not I will be giving that dealership another call.
Thanks for all the help.

I'm getting the same problem intermitantly, when the dsa light comes on I lose power severely. Is there any way of disabling the DSA to check if the fault lies there or will this screw up the ECU?

Hold the button down for several seconds and the light on the dash will illuminate. When its on DSA is disabled.

Thanks Dandle, I've just read that it will reset itself when the ignition is turned off, you wouldn't know if the DSA unit can be unplugged and the car still drivable ie not causing the ecu to think the wheels are spinning and cut power? I'm a real novice!

I dont think you will be able to disconnect it and have no other problems. Why not just fix it though as the chances are its just an ABS sensor. Although you will need have the codes read to check which one if it is.
