Default Warning sound for lights

Hi
I have recently purchased a xc60 13 reg and I have a question that is puzzling me, the lights for headlights, side lights etc, to cut a long story short I drove to work with the sidelights/daytime running lights on ( not on auto headlights or the option to decide to have the headlights on yourself)anyway only realised after a few hours lights were still on after I left the car to go into work!
My point being that isn't there a warning sound for when you turn your ignition off and and lock your car but accidentally leave you lights on because all other cars I have had have it, I thought they would be or am I missing something?

Many thanks

If you have switched the sidelights on then the car considers that you have down this deliberately and are parking the car with the lights on as a warning for other drivers, therefore no alarm.

If you have the lights in auto then they will all switch off when you lock the car (how fast depends on the settings you have chosen)

Just leave the lights on auto and you will have no issues. I have never touched moved the switch since I bought the car, never been any need to

Thanks for that, I take it then there isn't a alarm sound because I was beginning to wonder if it wasn't working.

Isn't there a green LED on the light switch to indicate parking lights on??

Hi
On the switch it has sidelights/daytime running lights, then it has auto lights with a green led above them when it's on and then it has the headlights option...

The LEDs that you are calling daytime running lights are not DRLs, (the vertical stops) they are purely parking lights. The DRL on your car are the dipped headlights.

Compare the LED on your car with the LED DRL on a new XC60 (actually any new car) and you will see the difference in brightness and why your LED are not DRLs
