Electric power steering pump
I am starting to loose the will to live with this car, OK OK that might sound extreme but I have spent quite a bit of time and money on the car since purchasing it and now the power steering pump is leaking I haven't had the bumper off yet but removed the lower panel next to the undertray and could see fluid all around the electrical connections at the bottom of the pump, I've also had to top the fluid up twice from min to max. I went out to the car today and there was an oil patch under the front , so checked the power steering reservior and it was low again. When I checked the pump the fluid seems to be all around the electrical connections and appears to be making its way along the cable dripping down onto the undertray and the floor. Does anybody know if these pumps can be rebuilt, is there a seal kit available and are they fitted to any other vehicles , the pump does have a FOMOCO marking so probably a Ford of some sorts or other Volvo, has anybody else had any problems with these electric hydraulic pumps.

The electric pumps are usually very reliable, even though they are from the FoMoCo parts bins. Usually when they fail, they just give up completely.
The reliability is such that they are cheap and easy to get on e-bay etc.

I haven't been up to removing the bumper to have a proper look yet due to health problems but my son is off work on holiday in the New Year so he is going to give me a hand then, so should know more then.
