Default B230 non interference ? To rebuild or not..

I bought a 240GLT estate with B230 for parts recently after it broke a cambelt. The owner got it compression tested and it came back with a bit tired verdict, I'm really tempted to put it in my 240 wagon to replace the very tired B200. Could anyone tell me if it is in fact a non interference motor and definitely undamaged by the cambelt letting go and any ideas on how little I might be able to get away with spending on the B230. I was thinking along the lines of new front and rear seals and cambelt obviously.. maybe a quick valve grind ? I really don't want to get into a full rebuild.. any wisdom would be really apreciated.

If it were me, I'd stick a belt on it and see how its running, as far as I know they are non interference, but I did here of a 240 a few years ago that was dead due to broken timing belt, but I think it seized the cam shaft as well.

Thanks for that.. I'll order a cambelt today.. they are such strong engines that there is probably another 100 000k in it. I do really like the idea of a fresh one though I might price up some rings and a head recon too..

And if it was an interference engine the valves could be bendend which would mean a recon head or from a scrappy engine!

If you decide selling of some stuff from the glt I would be interested in electrical windows armrests... (black...)
