It's listed as a 264 GLE but badged and engined as a 264 GL, not to mention been lowered and had silly wheels put on.

Are you sure Alan?

I won’t buy it this time Dave - because if my planned move (I’m slimming down my life, not acquiring more stuff at the mo), but if I was settled I’d probably have bought it. The seller says he/she has the proper wheels, which I could refurbish in slow time, it would look really good with the Pholus wheels I still have from the RB and the daft steel wheels would be for the scrap. It wouldn’t take me long to get the springs back to standard (I have a set in the spares shed) and then the motor car would be fine.
I don’t think the seller knows much about Volvos, I’m pretty sure this is a GL (which is fine).

Anyway, once I’m settled in Berrow I’ll be looking for something like this as my next project.

The proper wheels (or Pholus) would look much better (and give a nicer ride with the correct tyres) and the springs would vastly improve it too.

The wing and boot badges all say 264 GL and under the bonnet is the horrible Solex 4-barrel carb instead of K-Jet so that says it's a GL too. Lucky if it pushes 125bhp so don't expect sparkling performance, just stockbrokers chasing you to buy shares in oil companies!

Overall it looks scruffy and down at heel, needs a new pair of tail light clusters (although i notice orange bulbs have been fitted to the rear indicators so they don't emit white light) and for a little bit of effort could have been made much more presentable for sale. That said, there is lacquer peel on the boot lid solikely needs a full respray as well.

Good idea to wait until you're settled, a better example is likely to come along by then if you really want a 264..........

The boot has had a Craigslist rebuild, can of black sprayed over corrosion.
Scrape away the blisters and lumps and holes a many will be revealed.

Under the bonnet has been given a similar black (rust converter) treatment at the pointy end.
On the passenger side of the bonnet there is evidence of something spraying from the compartment(oil or fuel?)
Front passenger well, looks like there could possibly be a waterline.
Since it has a sunroof, there will be the usual suspect water running down the A pillars.
Just from what I can see from pics.
