Default DMF Fault?

After a quick search i only found 3 theads relative to diesels so thought i'd ask.
I have a 2010 2.0 petrol S40 and just recently have heard light metallic like knocking at idle in neutral, press the clutch down it stops.
If you blip the throttle with the clutch down a louder metallic like knock occurs, theres a slight throb on the clutch pedal.
While driving there are no issues no noises or vibrations, so just wanted some ideas as to whether its early DMF fault symptoms.
I will be visiting the dealer when i get time for sure.
Thanks in anticipation.

Best thing to do is visit the shop were it was sold since it is under warranty. This leaves any guessing out of it. If they claim it is normal, try to make a recording of the sound as well as a written confirmation from the shop where they confirm they have listened to the car and consider everything normal. If you later have an issue after warranty expired that is related you can still demand to have it done free of charge.

Well i brought it new from a good Volvo dealer so hopefully no funny business, but i'll bear in mind what you said.
The reason i asked about it is at 4 months old and 4000 miles on it a DMF fault seems odd and just wondered if anyone had an idea.
Maybe just my bad luck, i guess i won't know for sure until i take it to be looked at.
Regards.

If the DMF is gone already, it's either down to abuse (trying to tow a van out of a sump, for instance ) or a production/material defect. But to me, it doesn't sound like the DMF, although it is hard to understand described sounds.

One more thing; does the petrol have a DMF in the first place?

I don't tow anything, nor lug the engine etc.
As far as i'm aware the 2.0 petrol has a DMF, why it needs it baffles me as my previous Vectra petrol didn't and had a smooth engine/gearbox.
With so many people across so many marquis having had DMF problems maybe its on my brain!
I intend to have it looked at sometime w/c 7th Nov (week off) so will post the outcome.
Regards.
