2008 S40 2.4 L Engine: Snow and mountains?
2008 S40 2.4 L Engine: Snow and mountains?
I live where it snows and near the mountains, and am considering this car: how does it do in snow? What about going uphill with 4 people and ski equipment? The engine is sort of small. I'm considering a used model for about 27k Canadian with about 30,000 km. It was a loaner vehicle for a dealer ship and then it might have been leased to someone. Is this a good deal? Thanks. |

Hi, the S40 is a nice family sized saloon with plenty of room for four adults, the 2.4litre engine will have more than enough pull and fitted with snow tyres and having front wheel drive it will take you just about anywhere if driven properly.

A 2.4L engine in Europe is seen as a big beastie so I smiled about your question of whether it will pull or not, they are reducing engines sizes further and further here due to environmental issues, cost of fuel etc. In the UK we would probably go for a diesel if you wanted real pull but a 2.4 petrol will have more than enough oompphhhh.
