latest on cd changer, have managed to get all discs out but unit displays deck error and i can't solve the problem.
Looking at other posts it seems that this could be terminal and a £600 bill for a new unit. i bought my car as a used volvo with 12 months used car warranty which has about 2 weeks left, does anybody know whether the radio will be covered? i expect not, but you never know. |

have a look in the volvo warranty to see what is covered ,I would have thought that it would be covered as normally volvo used car warranties are quite extensive . You should have got a warranty booklet if you purchased from a volvo dealer . Also volvo warranty is dependant on miles when purchased normally "up to 60000" and then "more than 60000". I have looked at my warranty which has run out but i still have the book and it states that Audio equipment is covered under the "up to 60000 miles category" after that is not covered. I hope this helps you out Regards Asbo |

thanks for youre info, i have been on to several dealers who are all telling me that the extended used car warranty does not cover any audio equipment. i can't refer to booklet because i wasn't given one.
The car is 4 years old and has only done 28k miles, it is in very good condition.I cannot believe my luck, you do the right thing by having a dealership car with a warranty and when something goes wrong it makes no difference as its still going to cost you - approx £750 for new cd player. Any suggestions or help would be appreciated. |

hi
was the extended warranty a volvo used car one or just a standard warranty from a non franchised dealer. If you bought the car from a volvo dealer they should have supplied you with or posted to you a pack which includes your 12 month warranty . If its a standard warranty from a non franchised dealer then its a little different ,although i would be back to the dealership i bought it from and start negotiating with them to maybe part with some money towards the CD unit or even approach volvo direct to see what they can do ,also it maybe worth checking the VIN plate history to see if there were any recalls on that chassis number ,its a long shot but you never know . hope you get some joy regards asbo |

I have spoken direct to volvo warranties and basically no audio equipment is covered for my car, for the record i have a selected volvo extended warranty with 2 weeks left.
Its an absolute disgrace, a 28k volvo in vgc cd shows deck error and whamo bill fo 800 big ones. The warranty is not worth the paper its written on. signing off, very upset! |

Did you buy your car when it was less than three years old?
Reason I ask is I bought mine (55 reg S40T5) at just over two years old and when it was coming up to 3 years old I was given the option (which I did) of extending the original manufacturers warranty which means my audio equipment is still covered. |

hi
I must admit I have had trouble with volvo warranty before but managed to negotiate between dealer ,volvo, and putting a bit in myself. Obviously the volvo slogan "for life" means "fek-all" these days. Alternative maybe a breakers yard or online breakers maybe able to help, sorry about your CD unit hope you can sort it out and not be 800 quid worse off. Regards Asbo |

Car was just over 3 years old so the warranty is a selected used car not an extension of the original manufacturers.
