Default Door Glass

Some of my side windows have scratches and I'm going to try to polish them out with cirium oxide. I noticed on the 240 forum a thread on window glass and that got me wondering if the glass from one of them would fit into our 140s. Any thoughts on that?

All windows fits the 140 1974
All windows except the front side windows fits 1967-1973 (because of the vent-windows)

BUT!!! i do belive most of the 240´s have tinted windows standard, atleast the later ones (only the
140GL/164 has that 1971/1969-1974) so it might look wierd if you only change one or two windows!

Upgrading to tinted glass could be a nice idea, it would help in the sun and look good against your gold paintwork. Also, you mentioned on my thread about getting a new screen - I might be wrong but it could be difficult now to get a non-tinted new windscreen.

I've also read somewhere that the 2 series windows are thinner than the 1 series glass. I've never measured them myself. Not sure if it's true or if it matters.

Not on the front; 240s don't have quarterlights.

Jus as a matter of interest do you think that an experienced glass cutter could cut side window glass from another vehicle to size?

Can I make a suggestion:

Risk in glasses of cars with more than 40 years are like the wrinkles in the face of a person. Do not hide or close.

If risks not bother driving, I didn't change anything.

No. The side and rear window glass is toughened glass and if you tried to cut it it would just shatter into many cubes.

It can only be cut before the toughening process and then to toughen it it is rapidly sprayed with cool water.
