Used car warranty
I recently posted a thread regarding the break down of my s40 2005 se sport 6 changer cd player which displays only one message now, this being deck error. I have been led to beleive that this is pretty much terminal and that my only option is a new unit costing around £800.
My issue is with the Selected used car warranty i received which covers the vehicle for 12 months or 20k miles. The car was just over 3 years old when i bought it with 18k on the clock, it has done a further 11k and has about 2 weeks left on the warranty. I have spoken to several dealers and the warranty office, and the answer is the same - no audio equipment is covered. Is there anybody who has had a similar problem that has managed to strike a deal with volvo, if so how did they go about it, i am having no success, in fact nobody i have spoken to seems bothered, its almost like i should have expected the cd player to break and of cause isn't it obvious why the expensive audio equipment wouldn't be covered? |

Can't comment about audio equipment but in general have you contacted Volvo UK direct? If you have a full Volvo service history and Volvo approved warranty scheme then I'd be confident you could negotiate a goodwill gesture from them. You'll never get a 100% offer from them but maybe a good percentage 50/50 say.

I have managed to strike a deal in the past with volvo over some plastic rubbing strips on a S60 i had. Its hard work but you have to persevere with them see if you can get a 3 way split of cost ,get the dealer you bought the car from to oblige ,then Volvo U.K ,and put a bit in yourself . This I have managed to do in the past albeit £200 strips but I only paid £50. It can be done but you really have to push hard. I think that you have a case under warranty issue anyway probably a chat with the Citizens Advice or Trading Standards could help you ,as it seems to me that Volvo are fobbing you off with a lame excuse and using the fine print of the warranty to wriggle out of paying up. Hope this helps asbo |
