The 2.0 engines are okay, and I think suit the V50/S40 platform - whilst the D5 version of those cars is much better there are other problems in that it's a big donkey shoehorned into a car never designed for it, basic jobs are difficult due to poor access. But it's still a good package. We slate the 2.0 engine but if it were a Ford car I'd rather have that (The PSA DW derrived unit) than the Ford Puma crap which is unfortunately under the bonnet of my Ranger and post '07 Defenders.

Let's not pretend that car manufacturers haven't been using each others parts, engines and floorpans for years. |

Given the Ford owned Volvo, Jaguar, Land Rover and Aston Martin at the time under their PAG brand they made some curious decisions.
The best decision they made was to drop the T5 engine into the Focus. But why didn’t they do a go-faster X-Type R with the T5 engine in? How cool would that have been….

Yeah - that’s the shandy T5 version with slighty reduced power due to cooling issues when bolted into a Ford shell….

Of the diesel engines. From what I have read. V70 only below. XC70 had a 5 cycl D4?
1.6 - Underpowered for weight and size of car - and avoid the auto fitted with this engine - problematic. 2.0 4 cycl - Pre 5 cycl 2.0 D3 Ok power and decent economy - but more tempremental? 2.0 4 cycl - D4 - Prone to egr cooler clogging? Can stop with Premium diesel. 2.0 5 cycl D3 - Great compromise between power and economy - and I guess you have more opportunity to rev for the 5 cycl noise? 2.4 5 Cycl 2.4d - I think these are pretty robust? 2.4 5 Cycl D5 185 bhp - pretty good - but inlet maniforld flaps an issue? Just need to replace with age? 2.4 5 Cycl D5 205 or 215bhp - I think these are pretty good. Like how torquey they are with big and small turbo.
