Out of interest how were the rear window surrounds, especially on the C pillar. Mine rusted through and I know of at least 2 other 2 doors with same issue.
Minor surface rust in two corners under the mastic stuff so no issues once removed.

Don’t know how I haven’t got any better pics but this is the best pic and that’s the extent of the rust.

I've seen them on later models so think Volvo started adding them at some point. My 66 estate didn't get them.

Yes, i saw that...your estate had the ribbed panels. I think you are right they changed from ribbed to flat with strengthening plate. My 2door is '68. Cant remember if my 122s had them or not.

I never noticed the ribbed pressing was missing, will need to have a gander tomorrow. I added a strengthening plate to my estate in the ribbed area.

The car is apart and needs painting and reassembling. I will epoxy prime the whole car, stone chip the bottom and then topcoat the whole car except the A surfaces. The A surfaces will get painted once the car is back together.

Will try and do a build thread, will see how I go. Video of the car as it is currently; https://youtu.be/UatkrUYLCH4

Nice buy - congratulations.

Stripped the fuel tank and epoxy primed it. I also reduced the pressing wrinkles in the ends with my shrinking disc, still no where near perfect but a little better than when it came from the factory. It was more of a play around and a bit of learning to see if it would work. Think I might use my big 2.5mm primer gun to spray the whole tank with Raptor before overcoating it with polyurethane 2k black topcoat.

Wouldn't you normally do the raptor coat last, after the black 2k coat?

The 2k is the topcoat to colour the raptor and give it a bit of a glossy finish. You can get tintable raptor that you would just apply over the epoxy primer, but it doesn't cover that well and I prefer just to topcoat it and it looks better as well.

Yeah it's good stuff. The underside I painted with raptor and overcoated with 2k solid colour topcoat. I use to use gravitex and overocoat it as well. Spoke with a few guys in the trade and I was still on the fence about whether to overcoat it or not. I went with tintable raptor underneath first off but wasn't happy with the coverage so topcoated it. A mate knows one of the top e-type restorers down in England and asked him what they do and he said the same that he recommends overcoating it rather than tintable. But it's one of those things, either or will be fine.
