Auto gearbox oil/Angle gear oil

Which oil should I use for the above? On a Xc90 55 plate d5.

I’ve searched the forum.

I believe the transmission is any ATF that meets jws 3309

But unsure on the angle gear one thread recommended 75W90 and another YouTube video mentioned TF80SC.

Can somebody confirm the correct oils? Would the angle gear oil do the rear diff as well?

TF80SC is the name of the transmission. A TF80SC is a six speed automatic.

If your vehicle is a six speed transmission, it'll take JWS3309 transmission fluid.

75w-90 is the correct viscosity for the angle gear.

Diff oil is SAE80W.

Diff oil & angle gear oil are different. So you can't use angle gear oil in the rear diff, or vice versa.

I just noticed my mistake. It was a gearbox video I was watching that mention the tf80sc, so that now makes sense.

Now you’ve asked. I cannot remember if my gearbox is 6 speed.

It’s a d5 se geartronic

Can anyone confirm if they was all 6 speed or if there’s a chance it’s 5. The engine is currently out of the car atm so I cannot check. I’ll be posting what I’ve done soon once I’ve competed the job for future reference.

I never use the gear selector so not 100% sure.

When I search the number plate it shows it as the 163 bhp model. So would that make it the 5 speed version?

If correct, does anyone know the correct transmission fluid.

5 speed still takes JWS 3309. 👍

The 5 speed uses the same spec fluid as the 6 speed (JWS3309).

XC90's continued to use JWS3309 transmission fluid up until around 2014, then they changed to JWS3324 or AW-1.

Other Volvo models (apart from the XC90) changed to JWS3324/AW-1 spec transmission fluid earlier (in 2012).

Actually my 2012 states AW-1 in the hand book for the transmission. This is a 200bhp car.
