Purchased from Marc Tilling at Bells, Northampton. Explained it was UBER particular about my cars but Marc and his team delivered, car was prepared impeccably and Marc’s patience and attention to detail were 2nd to none. He also kept me bang up to date with progress and it arrived when promised.
There is a small issue, possibly 2 but am certain they will be sorted this week.
There are some things i like more about this car than my same model 2018 exact same car (HUD/CarPlay/gear selector/H&K) and some things i much preferred on the 2018 car (leather on key fob and arm rest cover/cooled glovebox and tow-ball cover cap) but my main gripe - and I discovered this during the order process - these R-Designs (and ALL MY23 XC90’s) have vinyl covered steering wheels and not leather and to me the difference is night and day and is spoiling what should be a fantastic car imho.
On the plus side I can confirm on these MY22 cars anyway the hands free boot lid does still operate as does the illuminated rear tread plates (had read these were now non-illuminated). The engine start is quieter and smoother, the braking is regenerative some how and feels ‘different’. I has P* so not sure how B5 (standard) feels compared to D5 but can say response from standstill is a lot less hesitant with the P* and B5 but unsure how much of that is the P*. Gearbox selector now electronic and is easier than the 2018 box. I did upgrade to Nappa leather seats as if not the bolsters of the rear seats are now also vinyl and I do not like vinyl in my Volvo - they call it sustainability, I call it penny-pinching.
Its good but how I dislike that steering wheel.
Good luck to all awaiting MY22 cars, seems Volvo want these built and out asap so they can concentrate on MY23 cars.

Congrats camper. Looks ace.

If the steering wheel bothers you that much just get it re-trimmed.

Out of interest, did you get to choose your reg?

Thank you.
I am definitely looking at options re the steering wheel. I can see a few probs with that - firstly the wheel is heated and I think the heating element may be a mesh element which is just under the vinyl covering so when the trimmer removes the existing vinyl covering the mesh heating element may become damaged. Secondly have spoken to a good local trimmer who could do it but needs steering wheel removed - which is a dealer job i guess but then what do i do with a steering wheel less car while it is re-trimmed?

No i didnt get a chance to choose reg no and tbh that was a shame as although lists are often meaningless it is nice to have a choice. Guess you have come up against same issue?

Congrats Camper, that is one beautiful car. I take it that’s Bright Silver?
I went for Silver Dawn as Bright wasn’t available on MY23 but if it’s anything near as smart as yours, I’ll be well chuffed.
My dealer confirmed my order and build date by email on Thursday so roll on July.

My dealer sends me a screen print from their system weekly and this screen shows a number of dates which include the following:
Order date, planned build date, actual build date (once built), planned factory complete date, actual factory complete date, current planned delivery date range, actual delivery date (once delivered to dealer), customer promised handover date and actual customer handover date (once handover is complete).

As you can see, the Volvo system does indeed provide the dealers with alot of information so tell yours to pull their finger out and use the system correctly.
Thank you for this i've asked my dealer for all the above data so lets see if they can actually provide it....

they've provided the data not sure why they never provided it before:

Order Date: 11/10/21
Planned Build Date: 18/4/22
Actual Build Date: No date showing
Planned Factory Build Date: 27/5/22
Current Planned Delivery Range: 11/7/22 - 21/7/22

Is that an MY23 order you have a build date for?
