Default Heated seats.

On a ‘91, 240, does the actuation of the heated seats depend upon the seat belt warning wiring being attached? I’ve unplugged mine.

I have power there, and the resistance values are about right but they don’t work.

You mean does the seat only warm up if there is someone sitting in it?

That's a bit too clever I think. It would mean if you got out into the blizzard to shovel away some snow the seat would have gone cold when you got back in!

I don't think it does; more likely is that the heating elements are defunct.
Do you have continuity across the heater elements themselves as well as power at the connection?

There is resistance. My brother who knows about these things, measured it and said it is about what one would expect it to be.
I told they are thermostatically controlled. It certainly has been cold enough.

Sorry to be vague.

Not at all. They have a thermal cut-out IIRC, but will stay on for quite a long time, long enough to gently toast one's nether regions. You would probably have to consult the wiring diagram to see whether the seat-belt warning circuit also feeds any relay/timer control.

I read somewhere that you can bypass the thermo switch ...but you have to turn them off manually...or get roasted ..lol
