Can't beleive this :(
My friend was in absolute shock at the state of his front brake (calliper) housing. The housing instead of being silver, was rust bitten. You would have thought the car's front calliper housing had been underwater for years it was that rusty. How old is this car? It is on a 15 plate .One year old. The back callipers were fine.
I had a look at mine and the paint has started to peel. My V40 is on a 65 plate. I have honestly not seen this before, not on Fords Renaults Citroens all cheaper brands than Volvo.I thought the calliper housing went through some sort of dipping process to stop this rust attack happening. Totally shocked at this. Does anybody else have the same problem? |

Common problem on any brand many only get a thin coating if that. Furthermore they are under constant attack from brake dust and other external influences so not really surprising.
Did my mx5 ones a few years back and they have held up well but even then the paint has peeled in a few places. Will probably need redoing at some point. |

My friend had used some sort of chemical wheel cleaner which I suspect may have caused this problem. So one lesson learned and sincere apologies to Volvo.
