Default V40 Purchase

Hi

I am considering buy-in my old lady a V40

What is the best engine for an automatic, economy is the priority.

Also I notice there is a 'cross country' version........I take it that is an AWD?

I have an XC60 and am so pleased with it I thought the V40 would be a good purchase

Appreciate your feed back

Many thanks

The T5 petrol is AWD - and not an economy version.Quick though. New FWD petrol auto ones are 1.5 litre. Expect a max of 40mpg at best. Diesels do about 50 ish mpg judging by what the forum members report.

Regards

Depends what sort of driving she does,

Short journeys - petrol engine

Motorway tramper - diesel engine

Oh and all the new VEA engines are 2.0 no matter what badge is on back

Our D2 CC auto does 56 mpg for my wife and 68 mpg for me. The CC has different more compliant/comfortable suspension and a slightly higher ride height. All are FWD except for the petrol T5 with it's 3 litre engine it needs AWD to keep it on the road. Just checked and it's a 2 litre 4 pot unit in the T5 now. 245 bhp and 360 Nm.
