Smile Storing 240 on driveway

Hi All, recently acquired my first 240, picking up next week. I will be storing it on the driveway - I wish I could store it in a garage/driveway, but I don't have access to either, sadly.

Does anyone have any tips on how best to protect the car against the elements?

n.b. I'm also looking for a good insurance co. - any reccomendations?

It's a 240, it will survive fine. Main issues treat any rust and waxoyl, dinitrol or rust product of your choice all the underside etc. My 1989 240 GLT auto estate sat outside for 10 years and was fine, main thing drive them, would like a run.

A really good car that I had for 10 years. Sold in 2018 for £500 and moved onto my 1996 940 LPT estate.

James.

' volvo always' is right. The only thing that I would add, 'nikdrives', is resist the temptation to use a car cover - they can do more harm than good. All of our Volvos, including several two series cars, have lived outside year round.

Regards, John.

Insurance - if you are of more mature years and have a reasonable driving record, I find Saga hard to beat. J.

Mine has been on the drive for almost three years with no perceptible deterioration. Kept clean and carnuba waxed, all is well. I spray silicone oil on all the rubber seals and I have Bilthambered all cavities, wheel arches,(inside and out). Luckily the underside is fantastic but I check and spray at every opportunity.
With diligence you will be fine as the others have said!👍

As for insurance, Peter James in Birmingham, top notch.

If you can, look for classic car insurance (agreed value.. always! & stated yearly mileage) you will also need a daily runabout to qualify:~

https://classiccarwebsite.com/item/p...car-insurance/ Peter S Taylor is worth contacting.

I keep my '88 240 outside- plus the '97 V70.. The Riley gets the garage!
As advised above: plenty of wax treatment, worth researching some to identify the hidden areas that need treatment.
Keep it polished to protect the paint work: servicing these cars at home is well within the capabilities of most and not expensive.

Then use it with confidence and plenty of style!
Good Luck.
Bob.
