Default Fuel Filter....

It's worth either a) draining the fuel filter (for water build up) or better still b) changing it....

Many thanks for all of the suggestions.

Just went to the car with my other DICE unit.

Gave it a long spin over before connecting, no joy again.

Connected DICE unit and failed again with same reason.

Disconnected and gave it one last try before coming back in and.... It started!!

Off now to the DICE section to try and fix that.

HTH,
Nobby
Tks Nobby.

I have a new filter somewhere from just after I bought the car a few years back. Was never able to undo the old one though, so another job that was left for later!

was it the car that started or the vida ? the fuel filter is a key component on any diesel and should be changed. use a strap wrench or a fuel filter wrench to remove it . fill the housing with fuel before re fitting to minimise any delay on priming the system .

I don't think the issue with fuel filters on these cars is tooling. Its more that you think your going to rip the housing off the chassis if mine was anything to go by first time I changed it. Some people think that the tighter the better and just crowd them up. When the "O" ring has seated, no amount of tightening afterwards will make it seal any better, doesn't make a jot of difference.
