Just been to see this car. It isn't exactly as listed.there are a few minor blemishes but the main problem is that the gear box isn't working (all four gears very sticky and won't go into reverse at all).

Looking underneath it seems to be covered in gearbox oil. The owner told us that he has only discovered the problem today and that he will seek to put it right on Monday (auction ends tomorrow). We suggested relisting the car but he didn't indicate whether or not he would.

Does anyone know what the procedure is now as we think it might be a bit unfair on anyone buying as is!? Even if he puts it right does it seem surprising that given the low mileage the gearbox seems to be failing? Any ideas what the likely cause might be and how much to put it right? Alternatively how much are gearboxes going for and are they available with similar low mileage?

Other issues with the car: cracked left headlight with water inside unit, two penny size rust spots in rear wheel arches, headlight wipers not working, couple of little dings that have been touched up, dropped windscreen, number plate lights not working, cracked spare wheel cover, broken centre consol behind handbrake, rear side window rubbers perished.

Other than that a very handsome looking car!

well, it is quite a far cry from the description in the listing, thank you for sharing this. don't know how bad the gearbox issue is, it might be less serious than it looks, (a leak maybe?) however, the mileage is REALLY low, and sometimes that is less desirable than one could think in such an old vehicle. it is gorgeous though, I would love to have an estate like that, if it had the round headlights I'd be tempted

BUT, the asking price is way too high, maybe even if the car was in perfect state...

Thats a lot of money for a so called superb example, let alone one with transmission issues, and various other faults you have named.I would walk away from this.
