Default XC90 vs Yellow Metal Post

So I took the O/H's V60 to work last week to sort some new tyres in my lunchtime. I left the XC90 at home. She rewarded me for buying her 4 new Michelins by reversing the XC90 into a big yellow metal post....

Somehow she managed to get the post to impact exactly in the middle of the bumper. This was both positive and negative. At that point, the (stowed at the time) retractable tow bar mechanism is right behind the bumper. This meant that bumper hardly had any distance to flex before the post impacted the tow bar rotating mechanism. So the tow bar took all the force and the car stopped dead "with one hell of a clunk"......

The end result was 3 fold:

a slight crease in the painted part of the bumper (which i can easily live with)

A deep intrusion in the silver trim (as attached). I have heated and re-shaped this today and filled with some plastic filler.

Finally I also discovered today that the force was so great that she managed to completely sever the 13 core tow bar electrics cable. I only realised this today when I saw one severed end hanging down waving at me from below the bumper. I have never experienced this before where an impact can completely cut a thick cable in half.

So I spent an interesting 2 hours today soldering every bit of cable back together and heat shrinking everything. Surprisingly I tested with the bike rack and it all works.

So that final thing I need to do is sand and paint the filler. This is where I need some advice. Can anyone recommend a paint colour or paint code to match the existing matt silver colour? I am not looking for perfect. At this point in the car's life what I am aiming for is tidy, functional and presentable rather than absolutely perfect.

Any ideas will be most appreciated.

Thanks

Your local Volvo dealership will have touch up kits, the paint code will be on your door post label. I think I paid about £12 for a touch up kit, (undercoat, topcoat and lacquer)

Nice work repairing the wiring.

Thanks. Are you sure that there is a paint code for the silver part? I thought there was only a code for the main body colour?

Sorry I thought you were referring to main body colour.

Most acrylic car paint (or model paint, same stuff) will come out matt or satin if applied in multiple light coats, and glossy if applied in a heavier coat. With that sort of trim repair where they don't quote a colour, I've had good results with Tamiya TS acrylic spray paints, lightly dusted in multiple coats so as not to make it too glossy - other brands of model paint are available, or even just some silver from Halfords etc.
