S80 Tyres
Hi,
This may have been discussed previously, but can someone possibly recommend the best all weather tyre for an S80. On my present car I have 16" Pirellis and the road noise is low. I am not sure what type of tyre Volvo fit on new cars however on some other forums it has been mentioned that Continentals can offer good all round grip in wet and dry weather. Is there much of a difference between 16" and 17" tyres with reference to road noise, grip and comfort? Cheers, Ian |

RE: S80 Tyres
I've tried Michelin MXV, Primacys, Continental and now Goodyear NCT5. Can't honestly say I really notice much difference - though belive getting slightly more miles out of the NCT5's. Unless you have money to spend, I wouldn't buy a set of 17" wheels just to have larger tyres.

RE: S80 Tyres
Hi,
The new S80 SE comes standard with 17" tyres with the option of choosing either the Stentor or Interceptor alloys, however you also have the option choosing whether to have 16" tyres with Phoenix or Sirius alloys and this is the reason why I was wondering about the the differences between 16" and 17" tyres. Obviously the 16" are cheaper when it comes to replacemnt, that is if you call £95 cheap! Cheers, Ian |
