Default Volvo 240 Estate wanted

Hi Guys

I'm on the lookout for a new car and need an estate car for practicality reasons but fancy something older so i've decided on a Volvo 240 estate. I really love the style of boxy 80's cars and rwd and a 240 fits that perfectly. I've had a look online but not getting much luck so thought I'd try my hand here.

It must fit the following criteria

Close to Bedfordshire area (UK) (within 50 miles preferred but may be willing to travel further for the right one)
Manual
Petrol
Drivable (I don't mind something that needs work as long as its not anything major)
Preferably in white or black but open to other colours.
£1500 or less

Message me via pm or reply in here as I'll be checking back frequently.

Thanks

Excellent choice

As well as checking eBay, Autotrader etc on line - you could stick a few wanted cards in newsagents etc - you never know

Check out the archived threads on what to look for as well

They are decreasing in numbers but there are still some good ones about - keep looking and you will find one

Good luck!

Yeah i've got a few followed searches on Ebay and I'm checking autotrader and gumtree regularly. Time is on my side so I don't mind waiting for the right one to turn up.

I've wanted a Volvo 240 for a long time and as I need a more practical car I figured now is good time to go for it.

It sound good, you are quite far away but when its ready let me know. If I don't have one by the time its ready then I would be interested in checking it out.

Thanks

You'll probably have to travel for the right car. I went 238 miles each way for mine just because it ticked all the boxes. Plus the roadtrip is always part of the fun.

Just thought I would update this to say i'm no longer looking for a volvo 240 any more as there has been a change of plans and i've purchased a different car.

For those who PM'd me I don't have enough post to send pm's back so couldn't reply personally.

Because you have to travel if you want the right car.

Personally I'd go to any part of the country for the right car rather than worry about it being more than 50 miles where you live. But then Im in the sticks in Yorkshire and everything is more than 50 miles away from where I live so travelling for stuff is just part of life.

Keeping to the subject of travelling for car purchases but in my case for 740 saloons. My first 740 saloon was purchased from a lovely chap in Cornwall: an 800 mile round trip - the car is now owned by forum member MrMeringo.

My current 740 saloon was purchased from a friend (lovely chap again), and that was a 500 mile round trip.

The right car is always worth the trip, and it can be fun too.
