I have one in Kent. Too far? Not chrome, I don't think any of them were but it's an all alloy Volvo one. Little use and excellent condition. Was used a few times on a 265. I even have a copy of the Volvo fitting instructions.

eBay is good for the big steel galvanised ones (never been a chrome one to my knowledge). They were not made by Volvo; Volvo only did a shorter alloy one that is nowhere near as strong ( or heavy!!)
Regards Dave A

There are 3 kinds you'll commonly find -
The Volvo alloy one which Derek posted - nice and heavy-duty, unless you're planning on transporting lead ingots on your roof it will take anything you can put on it. Last I checked forum member Pippin also had one for sale in Brighton. The smaller wood and steel Volvo rack which was offered on the 145 and early 245 - slightly smaller than the all-alloy one, and doesn't have as high a capacity, but better looking in my opinion. A few companies made full-length welded steel roofracks for the 245 which turn up on ebay fairly regularly - even bigger than the Volvo alloy one and essentially indestructible - they are rated to carry more than the capacity of the vehicle! You will need at least 2 strong men to lift one onto the roof, though! Finally the 245 will accept pretty much any gutter-mount adjustable roofbars you can get our hands on.

I'm told that they go for £50 at any time and that's OK with me. I have £350 invested in my Amazon Estate one. so that's cheap!
I also have a pair of roof bars, a pair of extension mirrors that clip on the front arches and the piece de resistance, a roof mounted aerofoil for flowing air over your caravan. All Volvo parts. Yes, this should be in the caravan section............... |

Hello, if you are not already covered, I have a silver/stainless/chrome roofrack which I believe came from a 240 volvo eatste. Please let me know if you are interested and I will email some photographs. It is currently in Suffolk however I may be able to ship this to my family in Leicester which is closer to you.
I also have what I believe to be 240 GLT alloy wheels, 2 series floor trays in both black and navy and some headlight/parts. |
