I think im going to keep an eye out for some steelies and see how they look for the time being.

Yeah, I like them too. It was more a random thought of having a set of summer wheels/tyres. I fall into this money pit with my bikes too

Depends what your budget is. If you've got 50p then Draco, Nova, Omega, Rigel, Aries, Adhara, Pholus. All the same size and offsets. Sirius, Orion, and MultiX are the rarest 15 inchers.

For the good looking 16"+ wheels expect to pay £500+. Hydras, Galaxies (3 sets), and Pentas are currently available, although the latter is not oem. There's also Gemini, Polaris, although at the Polaris price point it's probably best to get adapters and open up the whole 5x114.3 jap aftermarket.

Oh there's also Auriga which don't go for that much. Not really a fan of the directional alloys.

No problem using 20mm spacers on the back, acres of room. If you've got steelies think you have to trim the studs down depending on spacer thickness which isn't ideal, oem alloys all have pockets in between the holes.

Bit far for me. There is a few cars being broken locally so hopefully the wheels come up for sale.

Someone local has a set of Pholas, and Omega wheels for sale. Just thinking they wouldn't suit my older 740. Either thinking stick with the Rigel's or Steelies.

Given those choices Chris, i'd either go for the Pholus or stick with the Rigels - the Omegas are only Rigels with a smaller centre cap really. You can also polish the stainless centre cap on the Rigels to a near mirror finish and make them pop or you can remove the centre cap for a different look altogether.

I've never been a fan of steelies and to be honest, can't remember the last car i bought with steelies on (i probably could if i engaged my brain but it's on a go-slow today) and the funny thing is, once upon a time you couldn't give steelies away, now people want them again because nobody else has them as alloys are pretty much standard issue from new on so many cars.

Would the Omega be more period correct though Dave ? I never liked the Pholus which I think were more common on 940 Celebration ?

I think the Omega look more period and according to the advert are off a 760. The Pholus are off a 940 according to that advert. I think the Rigels look more retro vs any of those. Plus the Omega's he has need new tyres so not really worth it.

I agree. Back in the day steelies looked rubbish and everyone wanted alloys on their car. Now people want steelies to look different
