solid or vented front discs?

As im looking at changing my front discs they are currently solid ones on my 440 td. Have noticed for sale the vented ones for the 440. Is it a direct swap or is there an issue with upgrading to the vented?

the vented ones are used on 1991 and later turbo models , you would need calipers and possibly brake hoses too .
