New V70 owner
Just picked up my first Volvo in 30+ years of motoring - a 53reg V70 D5 SE Geartronic with 621k miles.
Amazing drive and the most comfortable seats I've ever experienced, compared to BMW, Audi & Mercedes. (I joined this forum yesterday and posted in the previous phase thread by mistake). Will provide an update once the MOT is completed in July - the odd knock from the front so guess there might be a little work required... Good weekend. Last edited by MG68; May 19th, 2017 at 17:18. |

Out of interest, what oil do I put in it - that will be one of the first jobs oil service due about now. Normally source oils from Opie. |

Hello from the other side, Our oils are labeled differently but the Rotella line of diesel oils (all are Shell 15W-40, I think) deliver value.
Perhaps the outfit in Germany which sells the 20l kegs of transmission fluid so many UK people use also markets a diesel oil. Diesel oil specials seem few and far between over there. Then again, how much can you stock up on oil for a car with 621K miles? Was it a taxi? Got records? |

Nice to see you join the forum, welcome
How often was the oil changed, are there records of that? What about gearbox oil? Does it have an additional transmission cooler? They are sturdy cars as we know, but it would be great to know what sort of maintenance you car had to do that mileage |

Hi Yoda,
It's been serviced a lot - 46 service stamps in 3 service books and six cambelt changes - last at 600k. Including gearbox oil changes. the previous owner was a private chauffeur and spent a lot of time in London where the car had to be MOTd every six months also. There was a write up in the Sunday Times about him / the car about 3 years ago. |

I was going to ask if it was the silver V70 that was featured in several papers. I noticed it for sale recently (on eBay I think) so it looks likes you're now the proud owner.
