I've not been involved in this thread but might be able to help. The later amazon's (maybe post mid '67) they had plates added for the rear seat belt anchors. This was done at the factory. These were the ones that were the attachment points in the middle of the car, near your hip. The plate as about 3 7/8" (100mm) x 2 7/8" (75mm) and about 1/8" (3mm) thick. Corners were round and a nut installed in the center of the plate. There was two welded plates to the underside of the car, one for each rear seat.
See the attached photo. Not a great photo as I was reaching my phone number the car to get a photo. The line at the edge of the plate is the fuel line running up to the engine to help you understand where this is.... Hope this helps. Chris |

I've got to this post a bit late in the day and all the photo's have gone! Wanting to fit rear inertia seat belts in my '68 131 2dr due to our first arriving earlier this year and just want to make sure I have all the mounting points for the kit from Brookhouse to fit straight off the shelf if any one would be king enough to confirm. Photo's below.
Thanks, Ben Pretty sure i could feel a mounting point behind the headlining in the C pillar between the rear screen and the window latch for the top part of the belt to fix into. (photo has turned through 90deg for some reason..) With the rear seat base out I can see a a threaded pen through towards the boot below the rear seat backing, guess this is where the seat belt buckle goes? I'm assuming the rubber bung right next to the mount at the bottom of the photo is a drain plug? (Its black rubber but the sunlight makes it look white). Threaded mount(?) at the base of the rear wheel well for the lower part of the belt to mount into? (more gremlins in the image hosting so you'll have to look at it standing on your head.... ) |

Hi Darren,
I'm soon to be a new owner of a Volvo Amazon 122s (1966).(2-door) Which I'm rather excited about. I'll be viewing the car in a weeks time. One thing is the matter of rear seat belts. Of course there aren't any factory installed. But I'll need some. 1) Do you know if the 1966 Amazon have the necessary captive nite for rear seat belts ? 2) how best to fit rear belts if no captive fixed nuts 3) do you know roughly the cost of such installation ? (If welding involved for example) Really appreciate your advice Darren (and all!) Cheers B |
