Side steps
My original Volvo side steps could do with a bit of tidying up so I’m thinking of either stripping them down and either spray painting them or getting them powder coated.
Looking at possibly changing colour to a Matt black to match the wheels. The car is black anyway. i haven’t don’t much with painting aluminium before... does it come up good / hard wearing etc or is powder coating the better option? Any advice more than welcome.... thanks.

My side steps look okay overall so wouldn't want to strip them down and respray, however they do have a few rubber-like scuff marks which I can't shift.
I've tried the standard soaps, kitchen cleaners, dish sponges etc. but so far can't shift them. Anyone have potential solutions?

I have the same/similar marks.
Even T-cut didn't really do much. I'm sure the collective brain will have a solution. Cheers Dave |

I bought a used set of genuine Volvo ones off a former member on here.
They were a little scruffy but for £50 well worth it. I took them to a local firm where they were stripped right back and then powder coated. Lovely job that cost £80 all in. The paint has not budged since it was done about 18 months ago. 👍

They were powerdcoated when new, paint won't last long on them.

Found a local company that blasted and powder coated them.
Definitely looks better in matt black and in keeping with the car.

If they look good might be tempted to try and find somewhere local to me to do it and a price reference would be good so I know I’m not getting ripped off. Did you take the side steps off yourself? What did you do about the rubber pads? Cheers , Chunk

£25 for shotblasting, £65 for coating. I took the pads off and am putting them on next .. will use a bit of araldite or number plate adhesive strips and maybe black self tappers on the corners I think. Self tappers will keep them well and truly on.
Taking steps off was ok. Brute force and a jack helped to suppprt them.
