Rear parking sensors
My S60 didn’t come fitted with factory rear parking sensors, I asked the Volvo dealer for a quote a while back for retro-fitting and he said around £500! So I came across this company called LNB Towbars who have an offer on for flush mount, colour matched sensors for £160, just had them fitted and now my wife is especially happy, our last car had rear sensors and she liked /got used to them. They are made by Cobra and apparently are an OEM supplier to AUDI too? Just thought I’d share this for anyone in the Bristol area (I’m not connected to this firm in any way)

They look better than my factory fitted Volvo original ones. Volvo's design looks like some mentally handicapped had designed or approved or done both in the design process. Subtle is not what I would call Volvo's design.

The genuine Volvo reverse kit is £140 plus £50 for the download so god knows how your Volvo dealer came up £500..

Yep, way too expensive to seriously think about getting original Volvo sensors fitted, maybe he calculated about 3 hours labour to fit? which would then be about £500 in total.

For under £20 on eBay you can get a pre-painted kit that you can fit yourself in a couple of hours. One thing to watch is to avoid drilling too close to the metal aerial plate, and you'll need to trim away the polystyrene behind the bumper cover.
This was them on my last V70: |

I found this pic which I think is from an original Volvo factory fit, they don't look that bad! maybe they do stick out more than mine, but not that much :-)

Simon ....
Just about to do mine. Hate to sound thick but what do you mean by "metal aerial plate" ? And were you able to do it with taking the bumper off ?

If you fit the sensors in the correct factory position there is no need to trim away any of the polystyrene behind the bumper cover or avoid the metal aerial plate..

The secret is to know where to drill the holes, but the markings provided by Volvo in the moulding are inside the bumper. I've got some to fit on the current car and I will remove the bumper as before as its much easier to run all the cabling neatly out the way.
