Assuming you’ve tried the key in the drivers door lock - if it doesn’t turn id be tempted to give it a taste of penetrating oil.

If it is a 7 seat version there will be a hidden lock in the tailgate, under the trim near the numberplate.

Otherwise you’ll need to get a cable onto the starter motor +VE terminal and earth somewhere. A small 12v battery and light weight cables should supply enough for the central locking to operate.

Do you have a towbar? Think there’s a permanent 12v to the tow socket on a 13 pin electric socket. You’ve still going to need cable though.

The key should work in the lock to open the drivers door even when the deadlocks are on. I’d be suggesting it’s corroded up inside, or the ignition lock has been changed at some time and you don’t have the key for the drivers door lock.

Incidentally mine was dead as a dodo, not even an ignition light feebly glowing this morning. It’s only been stood 2 weeks, must have a drain somewhere. Got in it ok though.

I could turn to the left about a fifth, but the turn to the right was a sort of click, no movement like to the left

As above, the door lock should work even with no battery inside the car, same for the trunk lock on the S60, but indeed many people mentioned the key would not unlock the door - not battery related, it's a mechanical problem at the door lock, need to check by removing the door card

Thanks, I can Lock the car with the key but not unlock, not even without dead locking engaged. It is as though the key is not the right one but it must be else it wouldnt lock it.
