D5252t oil sump removal?
Hi I need to remove the sump on my 850 tdi to change my oil pump and there are 2 bolts up high right by the flywheel.
I have read you access them by turning the engine over till you see them through a gap however my engine is partly stripped and has no cambelt fitted. Does any body have any tips on what the best way would be to get them out? |

It's been several years since I removed mine but if I remember correctly you can just about get enough purchase with a long (6mm?) Allen key ball end through the aperture. The danger, John, is that you jeopardise putting excess pressure against the valves whilst doing so. I know, it's a pain, but it would be wise to reassemble the old cam belt to prevent damaging said valves. It would be a greater pain having to take the head off...unnecessarily

I believe he wishes to replace the oil pump gasket.

He says the engine is partly stripped and the cam belt is off, so it looks like he is doing a major overhaul.
