General - Which engine do I have?

Hi all.

Recently introduced myself into volvo ownership ( I'm a Vw man normally).

Trawling the Internet for info on my particular model, 2.5d v70 estate on a 2000 v reg. I'm not entirely sure which engine I have in my car. Had a quick look around the engine bay for any engine numbers but can't find anything. Also tried matching mine up with images off the net but I'm still not sure if its the Vw/Audi lump.

At the moment the only info i can give is the plastic engine cover has direct injection across the top. I know that's not a lot of help but if someone could put me in the right direction to find the engine number/code that would be great. There's a few bits I'd like to refresh/ replace once I find out.

Try googling 'wikibooks volvo vin numbers' and it should tell you what engine you have from your VIN number, but from the age, I'd guess you've got the D5252T with a 15.8 ECU.

It sounds very much like you do have the VAG lump but put a picture up and you'll get an answer one way or another.

as above you have the VW/AUDI engine with engine system MSA 15.8.
