Default T4 misfire

hey,
my t4 sometimes fairly randomly decides to start misfiring on one cylinder. it only happens about once a month. the engine warning light comes on , I just clear the fault with my scanner and problem solved. I have changed the spark plugs and ht leads but no luck. I know its only happening on occasion , but its annoying!

Anyone experience this before? Thanks

Is it the later type with the coils mounted on two of the spark plugs?
If so look carefully at the coil pack stem for cracks... these can temporarily be sealed with epoxy glue.

ive had the exact same problem on my 98 v40 t4 its the coil packs as guy above said they get worn and short out, i left mine for few weeks thinking its was injectors and i ran injector cleaner through then changed air filter.

the new coils are 52 quid each. ive replaced both as a pair and its completly sorted it out.

now runs like a dream, if you leave it it gets worse and worse until it almost backfires and shudders when u try and pull off, id advise to get it done asap. good luck

regards

paul.
