Default Towing Weights of D4 FWD Manual 2015 version

Does anyone know why the max towing weight of the xc60 D4 FWD manual has been reduced from 1800kg on the 2014 version to 1600Kg on the 2015 version? And what someone should do if they've ordered one needing the 1800Kg level as the 1600Kg limit is too low for their caravan?

Bit odd this cos if you look at the new brochure which I have just downloaded it still quotes 1800.
One thing I would say is what the hell are u towing even the biggest swift challenger has a max weight of 1650, and as 1800 is about the weight of the car you would be towing at 100%, not really an ideal towing weight, never tow myself with more than 90%, becomes a case of the tail wagging the dog.

I don't think that gives the answer: the question was "why has it dropped from MY14.5 at 1,800 to MY15 at 1,600".

I have no idea.

But if you needed the bigger capacity, I would speak with your dealer: this is a change in spec, so if you have to change then I don't think they would object.

It's often to do with the limitations of the transmission. The manual version of my D5 AWD has a lower limit than my Geartronic.

aye....but the MY14.5 is different to the MY15...for the same D4 FWD whichever gearbox you look at....which kinda makes no real sense!

(not that it impacts me as someone who doesn't really tow, but I can see why it is a weird one!)

Thx guys. Page 15 shows max tow weight 1600Kg. Towing a Sterling Elite Emerald with MPTLM of 1603Kg. Reduction still a mystery!

I'd ask the Dealer to explain. He won't know, of course (why would he!), but hopefully he will chase up Volvo UK & find out why they changed it.
Wouldn't surprise me if they got the MY14/14.5 number wrong & have now corrected it. Odd though!
