Chris - exactly the same probs as I've got on my 240. However, was told recently that the mileage trip should not be altered when car is moving, as it damages a gear in the instrument. I have no proof but sounds plausible.

Is it a million miles different to this inside guys?
http://www.volvo300mania.com/uk/foru...hp?f=39&t=4147 I imagine electronic vs cable speedo's will differ, but I know 400's are split with both systems.

An identical problem that I have with my 1994 model which I have had from new (just short of 60,000). I've been searching the 'net for a week trying to find a source of repair/replacement but no luck so far. Kind Regards Neil

Sounds to me as if the input signal is just fine.
Maybe a dumm question: have you tried te reset the trip meter a couple of times while standing still? Sometimes the cogs don't engage properly and nothing will show. It is true that resetting it while driving will shorten the life of the trip meter remarkably. If you are resetting it you can try to push it in gently and releasing it abruptly so that the gears are engaged with a slightly larger force.

480 Odometer problem
The odometer in my 480 Celebration has decided to stop working too, is this most likely to be the pesky gear wheel I've read so much about? @Chris Wickers, Did you get yours working again?
The instrument panel has been fault free in the 15 years and 130,000 miles I've done since owning the car apart from the info centre puts on a light show of random characters once every 6 years or so... |
