I have heard that RHD EX30s will continue to be built in China (as the main RHD markets are closer to China than Ghent [Japan, NZ, Australia] it is just the UK which is an outlier). Ghent will then focus on LHD only. How true that is I don't know as the cost of shipping must be significant and I am not sure how much simplicity is really gained from running a factory exclusively on LHD.

Volvo expect the EX30 to be a big seller in the US but given the political tensions and trade barriers between China and the US, I'd bet that EX30s for the US will not be built in China so Europe would seem the obvious place (for now at least).

After waiting a while for the right spec XC60 to pop up I’ve finally placed an order for a ‘stock’ MY25 B5 Plus Dark today with an estimated delivery of 12 weeks. It’s showing as ‘queued for production’ so I’m assuming MY25 has shifted production to Europe from reading back on this forum? I guess it still needs a build slot and to be shipped/prepped in approx 3 months which would be wildly over optimistic if it’s coming from China?

My XC60 was built last week it would appear and I was able to get hold of the VIN - it starts with a V, which I think means built in Europe?

It's a MY25 as I was able to enter the details into the App and it brought up the car as a 2025

Mine was built with a VIN starting with a Y.
I assume Y means it was built in Sweden?

The 11th character of the VIN is the plant assembly code:
0 = [Sweden] Kalmar Plant
1 = [Sweden] Torslanda Plant VCT 21(Volvo Torslandaverken) (Gothenburg)
2 = [Belgium] Ghent Plant VCG 22
3 = [Canada] Halifax Plant
4 = [Thailand] - Thai-Swedish Assembly Co. Ltd.
5 = [Malaysia]
6 = [Australia]
7 = [Indonesia]
B = [China] - Chengdu
D = [Italy] - Bertone models 262C (US/CDN), 780
E = [Singapore]
F = [The Netherlands] Born Plant (NEDCAR)
G = [United States] Charleston Plant
J = [Sweden] Uddevalla Plant VCU 38 (Volvo Cars/AutoNova/Pininfarina Sverige AB)
P = [China] - Daqing
S = [China] - Zhangjiakou
Mine is a 'B' therefore built in Chengdu.

Positions 1-3 are the World Manufacturer Identifier:
YV1 = Passenger Cars
YV2 = Trucks
YV3 = Buses
YV4 = Multipurpose Passenger Vehicle
YV5 = Trucks - Incomplete Vehicle
XLB = passenger cars built by Volvo Car BV / NedCar BV
LVY = Passenger Cars made in Daqing, China
LYV = Passenger Cars made in Chengdu & Luqiao District of Taizhou, China
PNV = Passenger Cars made in Malaysia
7JR = Passenger Cars made in USA
MHA = PT. Central Sole Agency

Mines a "1" so definitely Sweden

We ordered our XC60 back in Feb, just had an email saying it's been built and delivery in June!
Originally told we'd be waiting until October.

Spoke to Volvo UK today and found out that my car is due into the UK 26-30 May and with the dealer 1-6 June. It was built on 8 Apr in China so that's two months from build to delivery (asuuming it goes to plan ).

However, I've heard nothing from the dealer in months and the Volvo website shows delivery in two months time; i.e. end June which was the last date I'd been given. If I hadn't called today I'd be unaware that it's been brought forward.

It's as if having two sales channels (direct and dealer) means that neither is taking responsibility for keeping the buyer informed. Are others getting a more proactive service from either channel?

My sales girl was lovely kept in touch monthly even if there was no update, felt pretty valued, then for whatever reason they sacked her off and was left in the hands of the sales Manager, useless, zero comms for months until the car arrived and they wanted paid, this was before the two channels.
