Angry V40 2.0t, 1999

1999 (S Reg) V40 2.0 T, Lovely white bodywork, good interior, gearbox, wheels, tyres etc., in fact, everything except the 'short' engine as far as I can tell. Unfortunately the engine is 'jammed'. Cannot say seized as there was no smoke or ugly noises preceeding the failure. Was running absolutely perfectly up until it was started up, ran for about 10 seconds and then just stopped with a jolt. Now, the engine will not turn. Need to 'get rid' but don't want to let the breakers have it. Would like to shed it all in one go but may consider breaking for parts. Offers ??

Is it the engine that is jammed?
Reason is a mate (who is a mechanic) bought a Smart car off a chap after he came into his workshop saying the engine had seized. He bough it off him for a few hundred quid then discovered it was the starter motor or the alternator that had jammed (can't remember which) he fixed it and had a great car for his missus. Turns out he was a lucky so and so as the car had a full Brabus setup which was worth far more than he paid for just the car - made a nice profit out of it when he sold it.

I'm thinking cam belt maybe??? I may be way off, by my mate had his go on a polo, luckily he was only doin bout 5 mph, but one of the valves was open in the cylinder, when it went and the engine just totally seized up.

Hope this helps,

Tom
