Auto Gearbox Issues
Hi,
I have an 2012 XC90, and love it.. alas once it gets warm it lunges into first gear on pulling away, i have had the fluid serviced with no improvement and have been quoted £2,500 for a new gearbox. It works perfectly in manual and i want to know can i continue to drive in manual mode for the forseable future, as its no great hardship and my MPG has improved. You can tell by now i am no expert, so any advice would be very welcome and much appreciated. Thank you so much. Colin. |

Next step is get it to a dealer and check that you have the latest gearbox software (TCM) installed. There are several issues with these gearboxes which manifest when it's warm which can be overcome with software, either jolting when moving from P N and R and setting off.
Only a Volvo main dealer, or one of just a few accredited independents can do the software update.

Tannaton gives safe advice.
Might also be worth double checking the correct fluid was used if you had it done anywhere other than a dealer.

Also worth checking for software updates. It does sound like there are big bills ahead but worth checking the above 2 points. |

https://hortoncars.co.uk/volvo-news/...and-solutions/ Contact your local dealer to see if you’ve got the latest software update. A failing solenoid pack could be the issue plus a few other fixes that could be way cheaper than a full gearbox replacement. Good luck. TT
