I have looked at battery State of Charge recently and was surprised the car did not charge the battery when at 70% SoC. I have seen it higher than that at a later date.

Basically it does not appear to automatically charge the battery is the SoC is around this level. I don't have any issues, was just playing with app on phone.

Default faults

i did remove the interior fan resistor today-ordered a new one[or rather my son did-he is better built for its position and easily followed removal instructions]

the operation of the fan was dodgy and had stopped altogether now-motor itself turns freely though so hopefully the resistor is the culprit

I have heard of them causing issues before, battery going flat, motor staying on etc-i dont think it has anything to do with my current issue, which seems fine at the moment after being left to dwell overnight after its battery re-set

it has ran for an hour-been stopped and started several times today and done a 15 mile journey-so fingers crossed

As Monkeh says. It's not a battery issue. You've underlying problems. You need to get the car checked out properly.
I swapped mine for a new one and have been using it for four years with no problems. No special tricks used or anything else.

it is being checked out properly...! or is properly giving it to someone who charges an extortionate rate per hour ,fails to find the fault after having the car a month or so and hands the car back to the owner with a huge bill-thats what a "proper" bosch diagnostics place did to the previous owner

I generally fix problems myself-cars are only nuts bolts wires [and in todays world modules and software]

for what the owner paid he could have had a new alternator and battery fitted at least-as when all modules in a car show issues/comms its more likely a power issue/earth issue from the main feed at the first distribution box
anyway seems fine now after battery re-set-will check alternator output with clamp meter[the second wobbly it had was more than likely having the vida connected for a while on pos2 with engine off-its not unknown]

new heater resistor will be fitted when it arrives and after that any more issues a new alternator will be fitted as at the milage it has the brushes will most likely worn anyway -would fit a reg/rectifier with brushes to it but these seem very costly for some reason

Post #22 sounded hopeful. Is it still looking good?

30 mile run done yesterday without issues-several periods of letting idle on driveway too-i did take my laptop with me though!
Perhaps thats why folk who are working with them every day say to make sure and have vida after changing battery...
Have plenty ideas if it gives any more bother though and it will be intresting to see what amps come off alternator-before i did the battery reset sometimes the voltage and ign part of vida would be blank

Heres hoping!

Some stability at least! I'd be tempted by an 'If it ain't broke don't fix it' approach for a few days to see if it continues to behave itself. )
