One for the list! Thanks Rocinante!

As you say your car didn't do it before the incident, is it possible that your car was previously set up 'incorrectly' before, and was set up with a slight right bias, and thus opposing the left pull ?
When fixed and true after the accident, it then followed the camber.
Could it now be set up with a slight right bias, to counteract the left pull ?

Might be nonsense, but just a thought.

PS, Set up a poll, if want to get a feel for what the majority of the V/XC70's are doing.
A great thought - and one that seems logical to me! Another for the list to ask! Along with your other suggestion. Thanks!

Next question - how simple is it to set up a poll?

Also found this on the forum this morning…which highlights steering improvements…seems a well worthwhile exercise:

My XC60 previously pulled to the left and much more so under hard acceleration. New tyres and tracking sorted it.

my previous xc70 [2011 ex police]pulled slightly left for first while i had it-had to replace osf lower balljoint advised on a mot,got 2 new front tyres and had tracking done on hunters by my lad[a big national repair centre] car drove spot on afterwards
There is a lot of scope for error setting the tracking on hunters with the wheel sensors and placement
I do tracking myself sometimes with an old fashioned measuring stick[adjustable] and also a camber gauge when required-its very simple measures the distance between inner rim edges fore and aft with the steering set dead ahead[rims have to be unbuckled/true] you can set even toe,out or in -whatever you are after

Mine pulls to the left since I've had it. Not a lot. Just enough to be irritating.

Mine (V70 not XC70) also pulls slightly left; not all the time, which has always made me think it was just camber?

I've had it 6-7 years (from 60,000ish to 132,000 miles now), several sets of tyres, various bits of suspension replaced and refreshed over the years, still always pulls left.

I just live with it, it's only a big wallow-y family bus / work-horse, it'll never be a precision driving tool, not worth spending time and money trying to 'fix' it...

Although all the left pulling posters are obviously not totally happy with this behaviour, it means that anyone buying my XC70 will not be necessarily worried about its very slight left bias. I'm just very picky and it infuriates me but I can get used to it so long as it doesn't give me muscle burn in my right arm on long journeys the way it did when the pulling was more pronounced.

Well folks,

This response isn't exactly "cliff hanger" stuff I'm afraid, and neither is it "rocket science" nor a "silver bullet solution" either.

What is a "miracle" is that the Volvo Dealer didn't charge me anything! Fantastic!

All steering and brake components were checked for integrity and wear and tear: no issues found. I watched them do it too.

As full four wheel alignment was completed in Feb, they did not re-do this.

Regarding steering hydraulic fluid - Volvo service recommendations did not advise nor recommend a change. Using a pipette, a small sample was taken (and replaced). The fluid was as it should be visually (kinda greeny colour).

Tyres were checked for irregularities (none found). Tyre pressure checked (again). As the tyres are v new - they didn't consider rotating tyres.

What they DID find was a few weights had fallen off front nearside tyre. They balanced all 4 tyres...and car's steering is now 99% back to normal. There is no steering wheel judder either. The 1% abnormal is me being over sensitised to the problem (probably).....and most likely camber on the road.

So, there you have it chaps. Thankfully, for now, it was fine and cost nowt (which is generally how I like things to be)!
